So you are serious about following Jesus? So am I. He is our connection.

As a missionary church planter/pastor/teacher I am especially passionate about Jesus’ command to “make disciples of all the nations” by focusing my content to  “keep on teaching them to carefully observe everything that I (Jesus) have commanded you.” (MT 28.18-20)

This website is about Jesus, our life in him, and the print/ebooks that I write about his life and teachings. It incorporates and expands upon the content of the now discontinued atjministries.org site.

There is a lot of free, in-depth study material about Jesus available to you through this site (especially the Daily Jesus News materials). These 365 posts will guide you through the chronological life of Jesus in consecutive devotional/discipleship studies designed to focus on one teaching or incident every day. They add up to over 1000 pages of insight into the life of Jesus Christ, and have been called the most comprehensive online study of the life of Jesus available on the internet. If you want to know Jesus as the gospels describe Him, this is the place to do that.

On this website you will also find links to purchase PDF, printed and e-book versions of my books. It would give me great joy to be used by Jesus to strengthen and encourage you through what you find here. This is my prayer.

This image is used in some way in all of my publications. Jesus towers over His creation here, and light radiates around Him. Light is the primary symbol for Jesus in the gospels. The staff shows that He is on a journey, and as His followers we are on that journey with Him. This site can strengthen and encourage you along the way.

I love talking about Jesus, not me. However, if you are going to read or watch my materials, you need to know a bit about who I am. I have included a page (About John) that tell you about my life, family, background, education, and ministry. I am far from perfect, but I hope you will be able to appreciate the “good work” that Jesus began in me, and is continuing to nurture to completion in his inimitable grace.

I write for serious followers of Jesus. This is how I described it in Chapter 1 of “ONE THING: The Goal of Discipleship–According to Jesus.”

“I am a serious follower of Jesus. Being serious about following Jesus means that he is my passion, my life, the love of my life, my all in all.  Since you are reading this, I assume that you are a serious follower of Jesus, too. You really want to know him deeply, love him, and see others come to know him as you do. 

Identifying as a serious follower doesn’t mean that I am more righteous, “better,” or more spiritual than others. On the contrary, my lifetime of following Jesus has convinced me repeatedly of my own sinfulness and weakness as a disciple. This has magnified the greatness of my Lord’s love and grace in empowering me to continue following him in spite of myself. 

I am serious about following Jesus because I have no where else to go but him; no one else to trust with all that I am other than him; no one or nothing else that ignites and compels my love and devotion like him. Having come to know him, there is nothing in all creation that can begin to rival him in any way. It is the greatness and glory of Jesus that makes me serious about following him, in spite of my sinfulness.”

The greatness and glory of Jesus is what matters. HE is what matters. And so do you–both to him and to me. I hope you will participate in this site by commenting, giving me feedback on what I have written, and interacting with other readers of my books.
